How do we work?
Before writing any code we learn how your business flows. Who does what, in which order? We turn that into screen mock-ups and show them to you. Once we agree on the mock-ups, development begins and we open a working version to you at regular intervals, so there are no surprises at the end.
After delivery
Once the software is live we stay with you for maintenance, backups and new feature requests. We can also host it on our own infrastructure. You can see live examples on our work page.
Who is custom software for, and who is it not for?
We do not recommend custom software to every business. If an off-the-shelf program covers most of what you do, using it is cheaper and quicker. Bespoke software makes sense when:
- Your workflow does not match the usual pattern in your sector and ready-made tools keep holding you back
- The same data is typed into more than one place by hand, and that is where the mistakes come from
- Per-user licence fees have become a burden as the team has grown
- You want to give your customers, dealers or field team a screen under your own name
- The software itself is the product you intend to sell
How are the scope and quote settled?
- Listening: You describe how the work runs today and where it gets stuck.
- Scope list: We write down what the software will do, item by item. Anything not on the list is out of scope, so both sides know what to expect.
- First-version split: The essentials go into the first version; the nice-to-haves move to a later phase.
- Written quote: The cost and duration of each phase are shown separately.
What should you watch out for?
The most expensive mistake in a software project is asking for everything at once. Starting small and growing as you use it lowers both the risk and the initial cost. Naming one person in your company as the decision-maker also speeds things up considerably. Finally, settle in writing who keeps the source code and the data before work starts. Ask this of any supplier you work with.

What determines the price of custom software?
The number of screens, user roles, integrations (accounting, payments, shipping, SMS and so on), reporting needs and whether a mobile app is required. Quoting a figure before the need is clear would not be right. After the meeting we prepare a written quote broken down by phase and by item. The quote is free.
How long does custom software development take?
It depends on the scope. A small panel that solves one job is finished in a few weeks; a multi-module system takes months. We write the timing phase by phase in the quote. Because we open a working version to you at regular intervals, you start trying it without waiting for the end.
Can my data in Excel and my old program be moved across?
In most cases, yes. We review your existing customer, product and order records and import them into the new system. How tidy the data is affects the time involved, so we show data migration as a separate item in the quote.
Can I have new features added later?
Yes, and that is the real advantage of custom software. As your business changes, the software changes with it. New requests are scoped and quoted separately.
